Good Eats
Good Eats!
Let’s be honest, we tell ourselves we are going to pack a lunch, but we never do. As a student at GMC I find that one of my biggest problems is knowing that I don’t have time to go home, I didn’t pack a lunch, and we have no cafeteria! So, I decided to compile a list for my fellow broke college students of the best (and cheapest) places to eat around GMC!
Hardees- This restaurant is right on fast food row walking distance from campus, they continuously offer a variety of $5 lunch boxes tat include fries, a drink, cookie, and several choices of entrees. They also have good milk shakes!
Taco Bell- Right next to Hardees, this restaurant is known for its cheap eats. It has an ever changing $5 lunch box that I often find is enough food to split with friends! The other upside to this restaurant is that they are very quick with their food, which is important when you only have 15 minutes until class starts!
Zaxbys- Next to taco bell, I find this restaurant to be good but a bit pricier. Though they do have rotating meal deals, they charge 25 cents for extra sauce!
KFC- Located next to Zaxbys, this restaurant is often forgotten! They have a $5 box similar to Hardees and Taco Bell that is consistently available.
McCall’s- Open since 1987, this restaurant is located right on the other side of the intersection of Davis and Watson. It is an amazing little mom and pop soup and sandwich shop that cycles out their menu daily. Though they are a little more pricey, they are not particularly expensive, and the food is worth the price!
Dairy Queen- Just a right turn on Watson away, this restaurant may be pricey for the main course, but they’re great if your craving a sweet treat!
Subway-Right next to Robins financial on Watson, this sub stop offers some healthy alternatives to food with certain “Light” sandwiches.
Cookout- Though a bit farther away on the corner of Moody and Russel, Cookout is a college student staple! Their food is very affordable, and the cookout tray allows you to pick from a good number of different things for only $5! Plus, their shakes are to die for!
Food Trucks- Many don’t know this, but at the farmers market every Thursday, and at the museum of Aviation every Friday, food trucks come to Warner Robins! These foods are often affordable, and super amazing! For vegan and vegetarians, the Eden’s food truck always makes an appearance! (If you do not know where the farmers market is, is directly across from the MGA campus and Robins Financial Credit Union on Watson.)
Johns- If your looking for more of a sit-down restaurant, Johns Mexican food is located on 247 near the intersection with Watson. They have affordable meals, and are delicious! You also get a chance to win a discount or free food every time they spin the wheel when a train goes by!
Taco Shed- A little farther away, this dive is located next to the museum of aviation. They have tacos that are unique, and named after different street sin Warner Robins! Its also the only place I town that you can get a mahi-mahi taco.
As a 17-year native I hope I have provided you with a great list of good eats. Remember, never take a test hungry!
